CREATIVE HUB UENO "es" is a gallery that was created by renovating the former police box at Ueno Station as the first step in forming a comprehensive collaboration between Tokyo University of the Arts and JR East. The works of young student and graduate artists of Tokyo University of the Arts will be exhibited, creating opportunities for people to encounter works of art that reflect on time. Together with this exhibition space, the entire Ueno Station will be treated as a museum that offers visitors information on the artworks scattered throughout the site, as a venue for diverse cultural exchange.
The gallery's name, "es," is a term in psychology that refers to the unconscious realm. It was named with the aim of creating a space that embodies diverse desires and energies contained within a small but limitless field of expression.
